It was previously rumored that the Nintendo Switch might get an "NBA 2K" game, but it might be a different version or maybe a spinoff. However, 2K Sports just recently announced that the new Nintendo console is also scheduled to get "NBA 2K18" along with other platforms this year. It is still unclear if the Switch version will be the same as on other platforms, given the console's processing power.
"NBA 2K18" is also slated to release for the Sony PlayStation 3 as well as the Microsoft Xbox 360. It is speculated that the Nintendo Switch version of the basketball game might be a port of the last-gen versions of the game. Game Rant claims that what matters is that the Switch version is the complete package and will offer the same content as the last-gen versions. 2K Sports also announced the two special edition versions available for consumers.
However, it has not been confirmed if the Nintendo Switch will also receive the special edition treatment like the other console variants. 2K Sports shares that "NBA 2K18" will have a Legend Edition as well as a Legend Gold Edition, which costs $100 and $150 each respectively. The special edition copies both provide early access on Sept 15, 2017, in-game currency, special in-game items and a Shaquille O' Neal poster. The Gold Edition will reportedly feature a lenticular print, which hardly seems to justify the higher price.
The two "NBA 2K18" special edition copies both feature NBA big man and legend Shaquille O' Neal. Sources also noted that this is the player's second appearance in a Nintendo Switch game for this year. Gamenguide reported that another game called "Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn" is being developed and was also confirmed to come out for the Switch.
Other than the Nintendo Switch version and special editions for "NBA 2K18", fans are reportedly excited for more announcements about the basketball game. 2K Sports is expected to share more information about the game as it approaches its launch date.
