“Call of Duty” is one of gaming’s most popular franchises and the best-selling FPS for the past few years. Now, Activision Blizzard has decided to transfer their game onto the big screen, creating a series of movies inspired by the “Call of Duty” games. Here is the most important information everyone should know about the upcoming movies.
IGN reports that Activision Blizzard’s project of “Call of Duty” movies is not for a series of standalones. They have big plans of making an interconnected universe, much like the one Marvel did for their comic book movies. It is planned for the movies to have series of Easter eggs and clues towards the upcoming productions. It will sure be interesting to see how exactly the movie universe gets built and if they will manage to keep it both coherent and interesting.
Playstation Lifestyle shares insight on the movies’ plotlines and atmosphere. Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk, co-presidents of the studio responsible for the productions have shared details from some of their barnstorming sessions. One of the movies will have a feel to it, much like “Black Ops”, it will concentrate on the story, which hides behind the apparent plot. Another plan is to bring the feel of “Modern Warfare” onto the big screen. They share that the feeling in the “Modern Warfare” titles is one of the whole world watching, while you are fighting for survival. They plan on bringing this feel to the silver screen. If these two projects prove successful, the world may see the Renaissance of game movies.
Still, the question of release dates stands most important. Game Rant shares, that it is possible to see the first “Call of Duty” movie in late 2017, but it is much more believable to set the date to some time in 2018. In both cases, there is a lot of time left before the movies are released and viewers find out if this will be the video game movie, which will manage to reach success on both domestic and international markets.
There is no official release date for the “Call of Duty” movie.
