Zinedine Zidane beats Leo Beenhakker's record and sets a new one in Real Madrid's history books with the match against Deportivo La Coruña.
Real Madrid had their 35th consecutive unbeaten match against Deportivo, winning 3 - 2 after Sergio Ramos scored a late goal and snatched them from the jaws of defeat. Ramos has proven himself reliable coming to the club's rescue at the last minute. Ramos attributes his reliability to get goals in critical matches to faith and commitment, saying "You fight until the very end, with faith, with enthusiasm, with commitment, and things go your way."
If Real Madrid goes undefeated against their semi-final and final in the Club World Cup, they are well on their way to beat Luis Enrique's record with 39 consecutive unbeaten matches, which was ended by Zidane's squad. The current Real Madrid has not tasted defeat since their match last April against Wolfsburg.
Zidane remains humble and continues to place the glory to his players, saying "It's all down to the players, I really mean that. It's because of what they have done and also the fans, who also help us in those difficult moments at the end of games. We don't think we are invincible. We will lose eventually. The players know that thinking positively can help us. The 35 games without defeat will give us the strength for what lies ahead."
The Real Madrid boss does acknowledge the element of luck and admits that, "I do have a lucky star, I always thought that when I was a player and now, I am having a lot of luck to be going through all of this and I am going to enjoy it as much as I can. We're only halfway through the season and we'll go through difficult moments. I want to enjoy this, because I know we haven't achieved anything yet."
