Lionel Messi is the dream for many clubs, and Inter seems to be the latest in targeting the Barcelona star. Inter Milan is the latest in Lionel Messi's long list of suitors to acquire him from Barcelona. In an interview with Il Corriere dello Sport, Marco Tronchetti, the president of the club sponsor and former Inter director, has mentioned that "Messi is the dream, and sometimes dreams can come true. I always look at life with confidence and know that dreams can become a reality."
Messi has not yet signed a contract renewal with Barcelona, which is set to expire in 2018. Until then, he is the target of the European clubs who have the funds to acquire him. In Inter's case, 70 percent of the club is owned by Chinese company Suning, who are ambitious to get the Argentinian superstar as part of their plans to build a formidable team.
Inter's new coach Stefano Pioli isn't entertaining any ideas on how the club would exactly go about that, as he remained grounded in reality when the topic was broached to him in a pre-match news conference. Pioli goes on to say, "It's good to dream but it can also be dangerous. I have no need or time to think about anything outside of our club. We just need to stay focused on our work and on our upcoming games. We need to concentrate on our day-to-day work."
Interestingly enough, Inter Milan legend Luis Suárez did confirm that Lionel Messi was on the verge of joining the club a decade ago. At that time, Suárez worked as an advisor for Inter and Messi signed a pre-contractual agreement with them. However, the former Inter Milan is just as pragmatic as Pioli when it comes to the club's chances of signing up Messi. He added that Tronchetti was saying it for entertainment value and the dream will just remain as a dream.
