New York Knicks sophomore forward Kristaps Porzingis continues to impress a lot of people. Dirk Nowitzki is one of them then add New York Knicks All Star forward Carmelo Anthony to that list.
Carmelo Anthony is already a superstar in his own right. Yet he's still in awe of New York Knicks teammate Kristaps Porzingis and the things he does on the court. He is easily the most impressed and the biggest fan of Kristaps Porzingis hot start this season.
Kristaps Porzingis torched the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night. Playing 31 minutes, Kristaps Porzingis had a double-double, scoring 19 point on 8-15 shooting on the field and grabbing 10 rebounds.
"I'm still in awe of kind of some of the things he does on the court. Like yesterday, he made a move and I'm like, 'Damn.' You know what I mean? I'm still like a fan of kind of his talent and his skill level," Carmelo Anthony said on Monday after practice.
Carmelo Anthony was also impressed with how quick Kristaps Porzingis has adjusted to the NBA style of play. He knew of Kristaps Porzingis potential. He already saw that a year ago. Carmelo Anthony just didn't expect him to be this good, this soon.
"I always thought it would kind of take longer to get acclimated. He's doing a great job with just kind of taking it day by day, still getting a feel for the game and figuring it out on the fly."
At 7 foot 3, the Latvian born Kristaps Porzingis has been compared to Dallas Mavericks All Star Dirk Nowitzki. The German legend praised Kristaps Porzingis saying "He's way better than I was at 20."
Even though the New York Knicks are having a rough start to their season, Kristaps Porzingis continues to post impressive numbers. Through the first 13 games of the season, Kristaps Porzingis has been averaging 20.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from the three point area. He's the second leading scorer behind Carmelo Anthony. Not bad for a sophomore player.
