Dark Souls 2 coming in March 2014: Namco Bandai

E3 is rapidly approaching and Namco Bandai has beaten everyone to the punch by showing off its Dark Souls 2 banner on the side of Los Angeles' Convention Center.

Many of the photos appear to be taken by All Games Beta and Twitter user VaatiVidya from the I10 freeway plus revealed new information.

Outside of confirming a March 2014 release date, the banner mentions both the Playstation 3 and Xbox360. This release window would come months after the launch of Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's Playstation 4 launch. Missing from Dark Soul 2's banner was the announced PC version.

Announced at last year's 10th annual Spike TV Video Game Awards, Dark Souls 2 will feature a new storyline and lead character along with a "sever-based multiplayer mode."

According to an interview Destructoid did with director Yui Tanimura, Dark Souls 2 plans on seeing improvement in "freedom, streamlining, accessibility and the network."

That doesn't mean the game will be easy.

Tanimura said that Dark Souls 2 will be just as hard and won't feature an easy mode.

"So just to clarify, when we said the word 'accessible,' I'm sure there were people who took that as the game becoming a little easier, which is not the case," Tanimura said. "But what we did mean was we wanted to, after a lot of feedback from the community and fans, streamline the experience so that we take away a lot of the tedious or, pain in the ass aspects that were in the original Dark Souls."

Series creator and director Hidetaka Miyazaki is stepping back into an advisory role for Dark Souls 2 as he's set to on a completely different project according to reports.

Expect more information on Dark Souls 2 and hands on preview on the action RPG to come next week at E3.
