Bill Goldberg has proven to one and all that he still what it takes to be in the WWE, specifically behind the microphone. But headed in the Air Canada Centre this coming Sunday, all that is thrown out the window where the physicality begins.
At nearly 50-years-old, WWE fans are expected to take it easy on the former WCW/WWE champion. With no actual match (on shows) and immediately entering the lion’s den opposite a fit Brock Lesnar, no one believes Goldberg can pull off a win under the said conditions.
Goldberg has been out of wrestling for 12 years compared to Lesnar who has built his stock. He has added MMA experience to his arsenal and everyone has seen how he has annihilated his opponents. The last one was Randy Orton, a controversial ending that occurred at SummerSlam 2016.
But give Goldberg and the WWE credit for building up the hype for this match. Goldberg has been impressive but even his show of tossing away guards at the Nov. 7 edition of WWE Raw may not be enough to back him against Lesnar.
Ring rust is obvious (and expected) as seen not only in the recent show but also when Goldberg took out Rusev in a previous Raw episode. He was far from the memory of the steamrolling star which poses some concern for fans looking forward to a colossal match, Bleacher Report reported.
That said, the Lesnar vs. Goldberg match up will need to offer something than a plain Lesnar victory, with all due respect to the 50-year-old actor/wrestler. There is simply no way (under normal conditions) that he comes out on top even if WWE fans want him to be the victor.
A lot of drama is expected, maybe even intrusion from certain stars. Whoever that is, he will likely have a beef with Lesnar such as Shane McMahon. That said, it could be the only thing standing in between Lesnar and victory – a screw job from someone backstage.
