'Gotham' Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: David Mazouz Wants a Young Superman on the Show, Inspired by 'Batman v Superman'

When "Gotham" debuted late in 2014 as the prequel to "Batman," viewers were a bit skeptic about what the show could bring to the table in terms of the mythology of the comic book character. The show shifted the focus to Detective James Gordon and the young Bruce Wayne, way before he became the Dark Knight.

Throughout its first two seasons, the show was able to seamlessly introduce "Batman" characters in their early years. Viewers got a glimpse of the young Catwoman in the form of Selina "Cat" Kyle, Edward Nygma before he became The Riddler, Oswald Cobblepot A.K.A. Penguin, and Jerome A.K.A. The Joker. The show successfully explored the world of Gotham City as it was dominated by greed and corruption, and while the young Bruce Wayne comes to terms with the murder of his parents.

"Gotham" season 3 is highly anticipated thanks to the arrival of Jervis Tetch A.K.A. Mad Hatter, who will be portrayed by "The Walking Dead" star Benedict Samuel, Den of Geek reports. The upcoming season will also feature what the producers call a "proto" version of well known DC characters such as Killer Croc and Harley Quinn. The new season will also feature an older Poison Ivy in the form of Maggie Geha, which producers explained was thanks to a supernatural event that occurred in Indian Hill.

Meanwhile, "Gotham" season 3 star David Mazouz, who plays Bruce Wayne on the show, recently gushed about how he would love to see a young Clark Kent on the show. Inspired by "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad," the 15-year old told IGN that it would be nice to see a young Clark Kent do something heroic in Metropolis and just be some sort of an Easter egg.

Although admittedly, it would be quite a difficult feat given that "Gotham" season 3 airs in FOX and the rest of the DC TV shows are over at The CW, it seems that Mazouz already has Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg in mind for the collaboration. Whether or not the writers listen to Mazouz's ideas remain to be seen.

"Gotham" season 3 retursns to FOX on September 19.
