Canelo Alvarez News & Update: Mexican Brawler's Next Fight Will Be This Fall [POLL]

Canelo Alvarez will finally resume his boxing career following a ruling on his alleged breach of contract with promoter All Star Boxing.

Per the Boxing Junkie, Alvarez was ordered to settle $8.5 million in damages for unjust enrichment to his former promoter, six years after it was originally filed. The row involves only Alvarez and not Golden Boy Promotions.

Canelo Alvarez plots boxing roadmap

With that out of the way, Alvarez should be able to re-focus and set up future fights on his end. According to Golden Boy Sr. Vice President Eric Gomez, they are now currently plotting the road ahead per Boxing Scene.

The roadmap would include a much clamored clash between the Mexican and Gennady Golovkin, a dream match that has so far failed to gain any headway.

Gomez claims that he has been in touch with Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions though nothing has gone beyond talks. He added that Alvarez plans to return to the ring this September though his opponent is still unknown.

What are the chances of seeing Alvarez fight Golovkin?

Given the time element, seeing Canelo Alvarez face Gennady Golovkin does not hold good odds. Seeing how dangerous the Kazakh KO artist is, Alvarez will need proper time to prepare for Triple G.

Already in July, the time to prepare may not be enough for a September clash though it has not yet been totally discounted.

After demolishing Amir Khan back in May, Alvarez was supposed to face off against Golovkin next. But as everyone knows, the Mexican stood pat on his call to have a catchweight limit in place. Alvarez eventually vacated the WBC title but made it clear he still wanted to face Triple G per Sky Sports.

Miguel Cotto Rematch Happening?

If a Golovkin fight this September would be too much for Alvarez to prepare for, there are other possibilities such as a rematch with Miguel Cotto per Boxing News 24.

In November, 2015, Alvarez fought Cotto and won via unanimous decision. If not Cotto, other names like Chris Eubank Jr., Daniel Jacobs, or even Billy Joe Saunders could be possible. Right now anyone can step up to the plate and face the “Mexican Brawler."

Whatever happens, Alvarez and company seem bent on a September return. The only question now is against who?
