After a weekend of teases, Marvel Studios has finally released the full, second trailer for their upcoming sci-fi action movie Guardians of the Galaxy, and it is some kind of wonderful.
Marvel Studios Movie Roadmap Planned Until 2028
The film follows Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), known as Starlord, as he is hunted to the far corners of the galaxy after stealing a precious artifact by the villainous Ronan. Alone and on the run, Quill strikes a deal with a ragged foursome of misfits, Gamora, a green skinned assassin, Groot a sentient tree, Rocket, a very unhinged raccoon and Drax a very, very large man hell bent on vengeance. Yes, it will factor into the already established Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the orb Peter steals will absolutely factor into either Avengers 2 or Avengers 3.
The first trailer was a quick, brilliant 'who's who' for the uninitiated. This second trailer promises a fun, action-packed adventure on the far edge of space that should entice the one or two sourpusses who were not humming Blue Swede's 'Hooked on A Feeling' for days afterward. Set to Norman Greenbaum's 'Spirit in the Sky', we get a better look and a short history of Peter Quill and how he came to be working with such an illustrious crew of misfits.
Thanos Will Factor into Guardians of the Galaxy
We finally get to hear a little of Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon and I am nearly certain this will be a repeat of Banegate 2012, where the people who love the voice and the people who hate the voice will never, ever back down. I think Rocket sounds like Bradley Cooper trying to sound like an anthropomorphized raccoon who is very nearly insane. I love it.
If Marvel's track record for movies isn't exactly perfect, the same cannot be said about their trailers. They deliver utterly and completely. Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1, 2014.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch it again.
