Developer Asobo Studio released the trailer while also talking about how the story of the game takes over from A Plague Tale: Innocence. It shows an insight in the current situation of the two protagonists, Amicia and Hugo, reports GameRant. But aside from giving a sneak peek into what the world is like for the siblings at this point, Asobo also talked about their humble beginnings - and how the A Plague Tale series is basically their baby that they always want to do good by.

Here's the full presentation for Requiem at the Tribeca Games Spotlight, if you want to watch it in its entirety:

The developers (who also were the ones behind the technically advanced Microsoft Flight Simulator) also talked about how they managed to craft the world of A Plague Tale, from Innocence to Requiem. They cited the challenge of portraying a real-world story without focusing on the "supernatural" aspects too much, and how much of a struggle it was to embody a disease like the Plague in a video game where you still have to deal with enemies.

To solve the problem, Asobo chose to embody the Plague using its main source: the rats. And it turned out that the copious swarms of rats managed to portray the disease well enough, showing how it spreads and basically dictates who lives and dies in the world.

As for the gameplay improvements, A Plague Tale Requiem puts far more emphasis on stealth that the previous title in the series. However, it doesn't keep players from wanting to be as lethal as they can, as it now gives Amicia a powerful crossbow and a series of new takedowns to beef up her offensive arsenal. It's not clear whether Hugo's abilities will still play a role in Requiem, but that will be made clear once the game is out.

A Plague Tale: Requiem comes out later this year for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and the Nintendo Switch exclusively via the cloud.

Here's what Xbox Wire has to say about what Requiem is all about following its initial announcement:

After escaping their devastated homeland following the events of A Plague Tale: Innocence, Amicia and Hugo travel far south, to new regions and vibrant cities. There, they attempt to start a new life and control Hugo's curse. But when Hugo's powers reawaken, death and destruction return in a flood of devouring rats. Forced to flee once more, the siblings place their hopes in a prophesied island that may hold the key to saving Hugo.

Aside from coming out to next-gen consoles and PC, A Plague Tale: Requiem is also coming out as a Day One release on Xbox Game Pass.
