'Hearthstone' Patch 22.4 Update Guide: New Mini-Set, Tweaks for ’Battlegrounds,’ ‘Mercenaries’, and More

Blizzard Entertainment released the patch notes for Hearthstone's incoming Patch 22.4 Update that will be launched to the online digital collectible card game on Feb. 15.

The patch update will bring in the new "Onyxia's Lair" Mini-Set for the "Fractured in Alterac Valley" Expansion while adding new Heroes, Buddies, Mercenaries, and Items for the in-game Shop.

It will also tweak several of the game's elements, including Battlegrounds and Mercenaries game modes.

What to Expect from Patch 22.4 Update

One of the things that the Patch 22.4 Update will bring in Hearthstone is the new "Onyxia's Lair" Mini-Set.

According to Bleeding Cool, the mini-set has 35 new collectible cards that players can obtain through either the Fractured in Alterac Valley Expansion Packs or the entire mini-set.

The set, according to Upcomer, will include four Legendary Cards, an Epic Card, fourteen Rare Cards, and sixteen Common Cards. Blizzard Entertainment will reveal the cards included in the set at later dates.

The patch update will also add in new Heroes to Hearthstone. According to the patch notes that were posted on the game's website, these heroes include Varden Dawngrasp, which has the Twice as Nice Passive ability.

Once the ability is activated, she can copy and freeze one of the minions from Bob's Tavern after refreshing.

Rokara, another new Hero added in the card game, has her Glory of Combat Passive ability to give a friendly Minion a permanent +1 Attack after it kills an enemy.

Onyxia, the third new Hero, has the Broodmother Passive ability to summon a 2/1 Whelp after four friendly Minions were killed on the field. These summoned creatures can attack immediately.

The new Heroes will have their new Buddies added in Hearthstone courtesy of the patch update.

These include Varden's Aquarrior, a Tier 2 Elemental Buddy for Varden Dawngrasp with 3 Attack, 5 Health, and an ability that can make "Twice as Nice" give copy stats equal to their Tavern Tier.

Also included is Icesnarl the Mighty, a Tier 4 Beast Buddy for Rokara with 5 Attacks, 2 Health, and an ability that can gain +1 Health permanently after a friendly Minion killed an enemy.

Finally, the patch update will add in Many Whelps, a Tier 2 Dragon Buddy for Onyxia with 4 Attack, 2 Health, and an ability to gain +2/+2 permanently after summoning a Whelp.

As for changes for Battlegrounds, according to Shack News, the patch update adds in animated Finishers that will be replacing the default Attack animations that are played after the Heroes win a round of combat.

Two new Battlegrounds Boards, the Jade Gardens and the Cosmic Study will also be added to the game and will be available once the patch update rolls out.

The Patch 22.4 Update will also provide a new Limited Time Event for Hearthstone's Mercenaries game mode.

During the event, players who will be participating will complete a total of ten tasks to reward themselves with Chi-Ji Epic Mercenary Card, a Chi-Ji Mercenary Portrait, and a total of 1,000 Mercenary Coins.

Along with a Chi-Ji, four new Mercenary Cards will be added along with six new Bounties for the Alterac Valley Zone once the patch update rolls out.
