It seems that "No Man's Sky" developer Hello Games has found a sweet spot on the PlayStation 4 Pro. The game's latest update, version 1.20 or the Path Finder update, offers a Full HD resolution locked at 60fps frame rate.
"No Man's Sky" Path Finder Patch Offers New Features And Contents
The Path Finder update brings many things to the game. The patch notes mainly focused on the increased content and new features that include shareable bases, three new vehicles, new weapons and more trading options. The latest patch also includes the permadeath mode, new classes and a bunch of minor tweaks and updates, according to a report from Eurogamer.
The "No Man's Sky" patch 1.20 never mentioned a 4K optimization nor the 1080p/60fps performance update. Thus it came as a big surprise to gamers who owns the PlayStation 4 Pro and is attached to a Full HD displays.
However, by default, players will be able to instantly access the 4K output configuration and not the 1080p. One will have to manually set their Pros in order to enable the aforementioned output. Standard PlayStation 4 owners should expect a smooth 1080p display if they will stick to 30 fps rate.
As impressive as it may sound, Hello Games has not perfected the game's visual optimization just yet. At 4K resolution, pixelation can still be noticed while inside a spaceship while turning, in outer space.
However, the display becomes smoother once players start exploring heavy vegetation planets. Additionally, a steady 60fps frame rate is impossible to achieve while running on a 4K mode. It has been noted to go down on the 20s.
