The fierce online battles are underway in Titanfall with the game launching last week, and the experience has generally been reported as positive. One negative aspect that has unfortunately cropped up is cheating, but hopefully you haven't encountered too many hackers as some have. I'm not sure what the true extent of the cheating issue is within the game's population, but developers Respawn say that have anti-cheating measures developed already--they're just not turned on yet.
A Titanfall player complained on Twitter to Respawn software engineer Jon Shiring that hackers were "getting out of hand", and he offered some clarity on the problem. "We have anti-cheat but it is not enabled yet--it will be soon. This is important to us," said Shiring. He also explained that they know who the cheaters are saying, "We ARE catching them. We are not yet ENFORCING it."

Clearly, Respawn is aware of the problem and committed to fixing it, despite not having any measures active at launch. One would have hoped hackers wouldn't have any power from the start and preventatives were in place when the game launched, but at least they're working on it. We unfortunately don't know the timetable to expect a fix (though Shiring assured another tweeter that it was "very soon"), but it doesn't sound too far away.
The player who asked Shiring about the issue appeared exasperated by the situation, but hopefully your Titanfall experience has not been too negatively impacted by cheaters. I haven't played the game on the public servers, so I can't comment on how frequently I've experienced it, but the issue has not been reported as widespread thus far.
