Eiji Aonuma Shares His Top 3 'Zelda' Games

Fans of "The Legend of Zelda" series obviously have their own favorite game in the entire series. For almost 20 years, Eiji Aonuma has worked as a producer of the RPG series for Nintendo. Fans are obviously curious about the "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" producer's favorite titles and how he ranks them. Therefore, Aonuma recently revealed that his top three "Zelda" games are "Phantom Hourglass" as number one, followed by "Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time.

Aonuma apparently revealed his preferences in a talk with Game Informer. The producer explained that he was already a fan of the franchise before he joined Nintendo. He also gave his reasons as to why he ranked the game in that particular order. Aonuma explained that "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" comes in last because "I wanted to create something better than Ocarina." The second is "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," which apparently gave him "the opportunity to create a 3D world." His number one game is "The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass," because "this is something my wife also likes."

After revealing his top three "Zelda" games, Eiji Aonuma added another game, which he reportedly feels was underrated. The 3DS RPG "The Legend of "Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes" unfortunately did not receive much love from several critics. The game ended up being the lowest-rated game from its series. Sources suspect the core multiplayer feature of the game was the reason for its poor reception, which is probably why Nintendo discarded any plans of a multiplayer feature in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

However Game Rant notes that the producer has not abandoned the idea of a multiplayer option in a future game from the franchise. Reports claim that Aonuma teased fans that the next "Zelda" game for the Switch might have a multiplayer mode in tow.

Sources have pointed out that gamers are most likely excited to get their hands on "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" next week together with the Nintendo Switch. Players should find it interesting to know the top three "Zelda" games Eiji Aonuma selected. Fans are probably curious if his list stays the same next year.
