Many PC gamers consider the "Company of Heroes" as one of the last RTS (real-time strategy) game and the most seamless one. It already turned 10 years old last September, but many PC players still consider it as a must-have and must -play game for those who enjoys the genre. The game takes place in World War II.
"Company of Heroes" Is Real-Time Strategy Game Set In World War II, Released More Than 10 Years Ago
Relic Entertainment, the game developer, was able to create a strategy game that does not merely depend on how much resources one has harvested. "Company of Heroes" does not even require its players to gather anything at all, but rather, how can one maximize the available resources at a given time, Kotaku reports.
Success in "Company of Heroes" does not only depends on how fast players can click their build order to its war machine factories, or how fast they can deploy their troops to a specified area, rather more on the ever changing tactics as the battle unfold.
On many RTS games, once troops or war machines are deployed, these will automatically engage an enemy, even if it is mightier than them. The basic concept here is winning or get totally annihilated by the opponent.
In "Company of Heroes," it does not work that way. If the troops encounter a powerful foe and with no given directives, they will simply scatter, lose morale and return to base. In other words, Relic put teamwork inside the game, without one, any mission is bound to fail.
