Remember that game Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2? Oh, you're trying to forget it? Uh, well, too bad, because the Lords of Shadow 2 saga is not quite over! Developer Mercury Steam's upcoming "Revelations" DLC for the finale to their Castlevania trilogy is just two weeks away.
By way of Rely on Horror, we now know just how lengthy the DLC content will be. When asked on Twitter by a fan, MercurySteam studio head and producer of Lords of Shadow 2 revealed that the content will clock in around 4-5 hours.
Revelations follows Alucard, Dracula's pretty-boy son prior to the events of Lords of Shadow 2, before Dracula's awakening and Satan's return. Alucard, being the nice guy vampire that he is, probably won't start off the game feeding on an innocent family, as prior events have put him on the path of good, but he will be facing off against Satan's army. Alucard is said to have his own unique abilities such as turning into a wolf and a swarm of bats, and the ability to back time.
As much as I'm looking forward to the DLC, I do have to say that Lords of Shadow 2 and its ending left much to be desired. The main game was incredibly polished, had impressive visuals (for the most part), and an impressive score by Oscar Araujo, but it was ultimately inconsistent and messy.
Much like the first game, I expect the true ending, or at least more details on what transpires after what we were given, will come from DLC. There's no word whether or not Revelations will act as both a prequel and an epilogue, or if an epilogue is being saved as a second DLC release, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the latter. But then again, the game did not seem to do too well critically. I enjoyed it enough to not mind more content, but I'm not sure if many others will share my feelings.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2's Revelations DLC will release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on March 25.
