Indie Mech Shooter HAWKEN is now Free-to-Play

Good news for you mech fans out there hurting for some more mechanic violence and competitive multiplayer; HAWKEN has now gone free-to-play. Remember HAWKEN? It was that mech game that everyone was freaking out about before Titanfall came to the scene.

As of yesterday, HAWKEN has become a free-to-play title on Steam Early Access. The development team has stated that their Early Access period has been very successful and has helped them improve their servers for a heavier load of users. Anyone looking to play HAWKEN just have to simply go to the Steam store and click Play Game. The base game is now free with optional DLC packs to add additional content.

HAWKEN's DLC, the "Prosk Starter Bundle", will be available for 50% off until Monday, March 10. The bundle includes a "classic" mech design for each class (Infiltrator, Sharpshooter, and Vanguard). Each mech can be purchased separately, but the bundle includes an exclusive emblem. The "Prosk Starter Bundle" is $9.99 until Monday and then it goes back up in price.

Lastly, HAWKEN's "Nemesis Bundle" appears to be going away entirely on March 10. This bundle includes nine mechs, bonus weapons, emblems, and in-game credits. All of the content in the "Nemesis Bundle" can be nabbed for 75% off if purchased together rather than separately, making the pack $29.99.

If you fancy yourself some mechanized warfare not the likes of Electronic Art's Titanfall, then you might be in luck with HAWKEN. With its move to free-to-play there's nothing to lose by trying it out.
