The next DLC for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" could be released in the coming year. Reports also indicate that the game's fifth DLC could come as a free download.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" has been massively successful since its release in November 2015. Apart from the impressive gameplay experience of the military sci-fi first-person shooter, much of the video game's success owes to the fact that Treyarch and Activision have continuously updated it with exciting new content. Since "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" dropped, four downloadable content packs have been released. These include the DLC map packs "Awakening," "Eclipse," "Descent," and "Salvation."
Because all four expansion packs for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" have been well-received by "Black Ops 3" fans, the video game's developers are reportedly now planning on releasing a fifth DLC in 2017. This is despite previous announcements that "Salvation" would be the final DLC pack for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3."
Speculations surrounding a "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" DLC 5 were re-ignited after Treyarch studio head Dan Bunting mentioned "updates" in a recent interview. "I cannot say anything specifically at this point in time, but I can say that as Treyarch, we are excited about this game," he said during a recent Facebook Live chat. "And as long as they continue playing our game, we're going to continue to support it in the same way." "We can look forward to another healthy and fun year of updates in 2017," he added.
Treyarch senior producer Jason Blundell chimed in, saying that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" fans can look forward to more Zombies game mode support. But when asked about future DLCs, Blundell said, "I am afraid I cannot say anything right now."
Meanwhile, there are those speculating about whether or not the rumored "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" DLC 5 could be made available as a free download when it is released in 2017. Aside from this, fans of the video game also want to learn more about the download structure for the DLC and what it will contain. Some suggest that DLC 5 will feature a completely new map for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" while others say that the fifth -- and perhaps final -- DLC will be a new take on an old map.
There is currently no official release date for the rumored "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" DLC 5. The game itself came out in 2015 and is available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
