"Dragon Quest Builders" fans have all one thing in common and it's their demand for a sequel of the sandbox action role-playing video game. The first game was a hit that they want a "Dragon Quest Builders 2." However, until now, there is still no word on whether developer Square Enix will push through with it.
Apparently, Square Enix isn't in a rush especially since they just released the game in January 2016. But reports reveal that the gaming company has not turned a deaf ear to the fans. As detailed in the reports, Square Enix is aware that fans are looking forward to "Dragon Quest Builders 2." They are also aware that their expectations are high because they released a sequel to its other series, "Dragon Quest Heroes."
During the 2016 PlayStation Awards, game director Kazuya Niinou and producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto both spoke in a post-show interview wherein they revealed that they know about fans' clamor for "Dragon Quest Builders 2." And when asked if they will announce a sequel soon, neither confirmed the project. As of now, all they could do is acknowledge the community's desire for another game as well as feedback on the original title. Fujimoto also said that he wants to live up to the fans' expectations.
Niinou also shared that if he were to choose, he would definitely like to make "Dragon Quest Builders 2." But he is not confirming or promising anything except to "return the favor with a good game." Fans will just have to stay tuned then to find out whether "Dragon Quest Builders 2" will come to life.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that aside from "Dragon Quest Builders 2," fans are also hoping for "Dragon Quest Heroes 3." Luckily for them, it seems like Square Enix is on the move with it after a hint was dropped by Koei Tecmo director Tomohiko Sho, who directed the first two games of the franchise. Sho may have accidentally slipped regarding the existence of the third sequel. But will it push through? Fans will have to stay tuned.
