Nike just released a new update for their running app Nike+ Run Club on iOS. The latest version of the app (5.3.0) was done to complement the release of the Apple Watch Nike+. With the new updates, users can now enjoy a nice run without having to carry too many gadgets. Now they can just focus on running and nothing else.
Back in August, Nike announced the rebranding of their running app from Nike+ Running into Nike+ Run Club in anticipation of the Apple Watch Series 2. The previous version of the Nike+ Run Club app featured coaching plans that adapt to the schedule and progress of runners, the ability to share running results with friends and other users, competing and comparing results with others via a hashtag and the ability to leave the iPhone home when the user goes for a run.
When the Nike+ watch was released, Nike felt it needed to upgrade their app in order to improve the experience of users. New features include split data in post-run summary on Apple Watch, improved GPS syncing when starting a run on the watch and users can now start runs on their watch without having the need to turn on the Run Club app on their iPhones.
Since users can now leave their phones at home, it is useful that they can see a split data post-run summary on their watch. This way, they can track their progress in case they plan to take a rest in between the run.
The improved GPS syncing allows users to set up their running route and see their location. Because of this update, users can track their location through their Apple Watch. The update allows users to start their workouts without starting the app on their iPhone. This allows users to reduce their battery consumption on their phones.
