"Age of Empires II" a 1999 Microsoft strategy game will have a new expansion and it will be coming this month. After 17 years from its first release in 1999, "Age of Empires II" will receive its newest patch this month featuring more campaigns, maps and civilizations.
The game's new expansion "Rise of the Rajas" is developed by a team of studios- Forgotten Empires and Skybox Labs- according to Digitaltrends. This will be made available for "Age of Empires II HD" featuring a set of new campaigns as well as units and technologies.
There is no doubt why "Age of Empires II" remains as the most favored game of many players. The gameplay was impressive as it challenges different players throughout the game. The new expansion will take place in Southeast Asia.
Players will be able to control units such as elephants and Imperial Skirmishers. New maps will be added combined with an AI and a mode of spectator. Skybox and Forgotten Empires team is still planning to improve the multiplayer mode of the game for the next release of the expansion.
According to Gamespot, Steam has released a full civilization of the expansion. It consists of Burmese, which can demolish defences with the use of Battle Elephants. Arambai is a ranged calvary unit of Burmese having a deadly attack.
It also has Khmer, where players can build the largest religious monument in the world. Balista Elephant is a mounted scorpion and considered as the unique unit of Khmer. It can fire two bolts simultaneously.
The Malays can also be conquered by players and the vast island of the empire could be upgraded to harbors. Karambit Warrior is a cheap infantry unit, but is the unique unit of Malay. It can make its foes overwhelmed quickly.
The civilization of Vietnamese is an extremely powerful infantry that can do maximum damage. Rattan is a heavily armored unit that is impervious to attacks of the enemies and is considered as the unique unit of the Vietnamese.
Meanwhile, it was reported that maps will include new places like rainforests and beaches. Different types of terrains are also developed on the new expansion. The expansion of the game will be released digitally on Dec. 19, 2016.
