Work on the Pokémon Bank Continues, Possible Release Date On the Way

Information on Pokémon Bank App Incoming from Nintendo

First, the bad news: The Pokémon Bank app still remains unavailable everywhere outside of Japan. But the good news? Nintendo has been working on the issue, and they're getting closer to providing a release date.

According to a recent tweet from Nintendo of America's official Twitter account, "More information on the launch of @Pokemon Bank and Poké Transporter will be announced in the future. Thanks for your patience!" Granted, it's nothing specific, but it's better than nothing, right?

Testing issues are still ongoing, and we'll let you know once Nintendo provides any more information.

The last word on the matter came in late December with a post on Nintendo's Facebook page, which read that the company would, "share more information about the launch of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter as soon as possible."

The network problems first started on Christmas morning. Nintendo chalked it up to an overcrowded network thanks to a bevy of new Nintendo system owners all trying to access the various online options simultaneously, coupled with the extreme popularity of the Pokémon Bank app, only available in Japan at the time.

Japanese players have been getting the lion's share of the app's benefit, like the recent addition of the legendary pokémon Giratina. The Legendary Ghost-Dragon pokémon first appeared all the way back in Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, and has since been reworked for the Pokémon X and Y engine.

Pokémon X and Y released this past fall to rave reviews as well as great sales numbers. It's also been reported by Nintendo Life that Masuda expressed interest in making more Mega Evolutions.

The games represent a radical change for the franchise, the top down perspective having been replaced with more of a three quarter perspective, and battles look radically different. As per usual, players will see several new pokémon, 5 of which were teased in the game's trailer at the time of the announcement. There's the usual array of new starter Pokémon, and each game will play host its own type of new, legendary Pokémon. And what's more, a number of classic Pokémon have earned mega-evolutions they can transform into during battle.
