Call of Duty: Ghosts' Onslaught DLC Detailed, Lets You Play as Halloween's Michael Myers [VIDEO]

Michael Myers of Halloween Fame Coming in Call of Duty: Ghosts' Onslaught DLC

After a fan who noticed his local GameStop staff had decided to put out a poster a bit early, we have an official confirmation and information about Call of Duty: Ghosts' first peice of DLC, Onslaught. There's a video out now detailing the four maps, each with its own specific features, the coolest of which is, without a doubt, Fog. The map is straight out of the slasher flicks that littered the late 80's to early 90's like the "Nightmare on Elm Street," "Friday the 13th," and "Halloween" series. Funny thing about that last series, because with Onslaught, you'll be able to play as the white faced boogeyman on the Fog map.

Complete a field order, and you assume the role of the iconic babysitter bloodletter, complete with trademark music and axe, so let's hope you're good with getting up close and personal. Each of the rest of the maps has their own special abilities earned by completing respective field orders:

* Bayview - call in a naval artillery strike
* Containment - call in an airstrike to detonate a radioactive missile, destroying anyone in the immediate area
* Ignition (a rekame of Scrapyard from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) - activiate a test engine that ignites and burns enemies in the area

Beyond the map, the DLC also adds in a new weapon that the team is describing as two weapons in one, the Maverick rifle, which can function as an assault rifle, or a sniper rifle, so it works on two levels for whatever your play style is.

As for the game's alien hunting Exctinction mode, there's an addition to that as well, picking up where the last mission, "Point of Contact," left off. It also adds in two new alien types:

- the "Phantom," capable of turning invisible mid-leap.
- the "Breeder," an enormous boss creature

Onslaught hits Xbox platforms first, later this month, January 28. Expect it to hit the rest of the platforms after in late February. No pricing details just yet, but I'm sure the DLC packs are free for Season Pass holders. According to that Pass, the next DLC will be Devestation, followed by Invasion, and finally, Nemesis. Additional content gained with the Pass include instant access to the map originally only offered as a pre-order bonus, Free Fall, and the Team Leader digital content pack, which "includes a unique MP character head" sporting the Ghost mask, weapon camo, reticle, player patch, player card and player background, all of which will be playable in-game upon purchase.

For anyone who has the game on either PS3 or Xbox 360 and plans on upgrading to the next-gen systems, anyone who buys the pass by the end of May 2014, all the content comes with you to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Check out the video below for a closer look at what the DLC has to offer.

Call of Duty: Ghosts takes place in a near future following an attack from space that leaves Los Angeles virtually wiped out, and the United States' infrastructure devastated. Years later, the country is invaded by a new superpower, a conglomerate of South American nations calling itself the "Federation." What's left of America's special forces have come together to form the titular "Ghosts," and it's up to them to wage guerrilla warfare against the Federation in order to protect what remains of the United States, and drive the Federation out.

Beyond the campaign, the game's multiplayer mode, which promises a slew of different customization options for weapons, character camos, and more. Over 30 new weapons are included alongside old favorites like the UMP45 and the M4A1.

Despite not the best reviews ever for a Call of Duty game, Ghosts was a hit right out of the gate. We learned recently thatGhosts is the most played multiplayer game in the world, and was also the top-selling game in November, the month when both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One released.
