The year 2016 is almost coming to an end but "The Winds of Winter" novel is still nowhere to be found. Albeit it's no surprise, fans are hoping that next year will be the time that they will get to read George RR Martin's sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. But will it finally hit the bookshelves by 2017?
According to reports, "The Winds of Winter" book will come around next year. But there is no concrete information on whether it will arrive early or late in 2017. One thing is for sure though and it's the airing of the novel's TV adaptation, "Game of Thrones," which is slated to return for season 7 sometime in summer 2017. Fans will now just have to turn to the TV series if "The Winds of Winter" don't turn up soon.
Many have been wondering what's taking the book so long. It's expected though since it's been five years already since the last book in the series and still there is no sign of it. Some have already arrived at a conclusion that maybe Martin is being lazy with his writing that's why there is so much delay to "The Winds of Winter." However, reports reveal that the delay has nothing to do with Martin's unwillingness to finish.
Instead, "The Winds of Winter" has turned into a complicated story that Martin is making sure that he is able to put out the best ending for the novel. As detailed in Entertainment Weekly, Martin revealed that the sixth book will be nothing close to happy and simple. In fact, there will be a lot of dark chapters. "Winter is the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fill the world, so this is not going to be the happy feel-good that people may be hoping for," Martin divulged.
He also said that some of the characters are in very dark places. This led fans to believe that there will be characters who will be facing death and that includes Tommen who is rumored to die in the hands of Daenerys. Could the prediction be accurate? Fans will have to stay tuned for more updates on "The Winds of Winter."
