Avenged Sevenfold Announces Hail to the King: Deathbat [TRAILER]

Avenged Sevenfold has announced their first-ever mobile game, Hail to the King: Deathbat. This will be a trip through the metal band's discography but it will be a game playable even if you're not familiar with the band- just as long as you're ok with everything metal.

Hail to the King: Deathbat is based on classic dungeon crawlers and features an undead warrior that sets out to hell to reclaim his lost land, presumably picking up lots of loot along the way. Along with all the fire and brimstone the game will come with eight new theme songs plus classic Aveneged Sevenfold tracks so it will sound as metal as it looks. Artwork ripped straight from the band's albums will be featured as well, and there will be plenty of giant demonic bosses to battle.

The developer of the game, Subscience Studios, has a couple of appropriately themed games in their catalog already- Grave Stompers and Dragon Dashers. One has to assume that their proclivity towards metal stuff like the dead and dragons got them the gig.

M. Shadows, lead singer of Avenged Sevenfold, elaborated on the game's genesis in a press release, "We've been fans of games since we were kids, and we thought it would be fun to create one of our own inspired by our favorites. There are so many cool and innovative indie games being developed today, and we realized we could design and build the kind of game we'd love to play on our own. It is coming together amazingly well, and we can't wait to share it."

If you'll notice, a skeletonized version of M. Shadows has a cameo at 1:07 in the trailer below - it seems that the band members are playable in the game.

In addition to the game, Machinima is producing an animated series called "Hail to the King", based on the same property. Keep an eye out for Hail to the King: Deathbat on unspecified mobile devices (iOS and Android, surely?) early next year and check out the trailer below. If it seems funny to hear that a metal band has their own mobile videogame well just remember that Slayer has their very own pinball game.
