Apple recently announced that the Apple AirPods will be arriving on Dec. 21, 2016, although users will have to wait longer for the Apple BeatsX. According to the company, the Apple BeatsX will release in February or March 2017. With many other wireless earbuds on the market, Airpods certain is not the only option. 9to5Mac revealed that the Apple BeatsX earphones were first announced in September 2016, said to officially arrive later in the fall season. However, the official release date has since been postponed to February 2017.
The company did not indicate a reason for the delay. Some speculate that the Apple BeatsX may be giving some room for the new Apple AirPods. Meanwhile, others think that the company is still adding the final touches to the product, the same reason why the Apple AirPods were delayed for two months.
The Apple BeatsX earphones depend on Bluetooth wireless connectivity and the Apple W1 chip for quick pairing, switching and a reliable connection, similar to the Apple AirPods. The Apple BeatsX costs $149, while the AirPods are priced at $159.
The Apple BeatsX use Lightning, not microUSB, to recharge and has a slightly longer battery life than the AirPods. These also do not rely on a cable to link each earphone.The AppleBeatsX include a Flex-Form cable that keep the cables tethered to each other.
BeatsX: The Features
MacRumors stated that three Beats models were introduced in September after the iPhone 7 arrived without a headphone jack. Apple was reportedly eyeing on a truly wireless future, hence the creation of the Apple BeatsX and its cousins.
The Beats Solo3 Wireless and Beats PowerBeats models were the first to launch, priced at $300 and $200, respectively. The Apple BeatsX is the third model, which will be available in either black or white. The Apple BeatsX can also quickly connect to compatible devices just by powering these on and holding them close to an iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad.
The Apple BeatsX boasts of up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge. Its Fast Fuel feature allows users an extra two hours of playback after a five-minute quick charge. The Apple BeatsX also include an in-line Remote and Mic for calls, music playback control and Siri activation.
