Instagram Live is a video streaming that allows users to go live on video sharing network. Everyone in the US is expected to be able to stream live starting last Monday. Facebook and Snapchat users are wondering if Instagram Live is better than its predecessor.
Just like in Snapchat, Instagram Live allows the subscribers to record and share a 10 second video and upload it online. The video clip will disappear after 24 hours. Length of videos can also extend up to 60 minutes. However, with Facebook Live, the videos remained in the account of the user as long as he wants it to be accessible.
Instagram Live is a feature of Instagram Stories. All the user has to do is swipe right from the feed to open the camera. He can then tap the "Start Live Video" button to start the streaming. If users want to find live streams to watch, all they have to do is go to Explore tab and look for the new Top Live section.
Users are allowed to send notification to their friends whenever they are online on Instagram Live so that they can check out the post. The user can also pin a comment so that everyone can see and read, but there is also a feature to switch off the comments.
With Instagram Live, streaming videos may be discovered by other Instagram users in the discovery section. Snapchat Live only allows a user to see videos posted by persons they are following. Some of those who have experienced streaming on Instagram Live feels that it is useless as videos disappear once the user is done broadcasting. Some say Instagram Live is like Periscope of Facebook Live.
