Another official trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise "Assassin's Creed" has been released and it shows the main character taking a death-defying leap of faith -- a scene that will be very familiar to fans of the video game series. In the latest trailer for "Assassin's Creed" the movie, Aguilar de Nerha (Michael Fassbender) escapes from his enemies during an exhilarating rooftop chase by jumping off a very tall building. He does so at the same time his descendant Callum Lynch (also Fassbender) is getting used to the Animus in the present day.
The "leap of faith" scene is expected to be one of the most standout moments in "Assassin's Creed," which co-stars Marion Cotillard (Sophia Rikkin), Jeremy Irons (Alan Rikkin), Brendan Gleeson (Joseph Lynch), Michael K. Williams (Moussa/Baptiste), and Charlotte Rampling (in an unidentified role). The action/adventure live-action adaptation of the popular Ubisoft video game series was directed by Justin Kurzel. "Assassin's Creed" will premiere later this month and is already expected to become one of the most important video game adaptations ever released.
Kurzel, Fassbender, Cotillard, Irons, and Williams were joined earlier this week by "Assassin's Creed" brand director Azaizia Aymar for an Xbox live stream interview with Microsoft's Major Nelson. During the discussion, Aymar said that "Assassin's Creed" will mark a turning point in the production of video game movies. "I really think it's going to be a milestone movie," he said. "It's going to be the very first time that a video game studio creative works with movie creatives altogether to share a vision and give them the tool to express themselves; rather than have an adaptation. There's going to be a 'before and after "Assassin's Creed" movie' for sure."
During the discussion, it was also revealed that Fassbender agreed to star in "Assassin's Creed" after a single meeting with Ubisoft. Fassbender, who is a producer on the film and is reportedly already signed on for future sequels, was also the one who approached Kurzel to helm the project. "Assassin's Creed" hits theater Dec. 21.
