‘Spider-Man: Homecoming' Spoilers, Easter Egg: Gwen Stacey Cast For Sequel?

The "Spider-Man: Homecoming" trailer contained several Easter Eggs and one teased the appearance of Gwen Stacey in the movie. Her cameo in the film might also lead to a bigger role in the confirmed sequel.

Gwen Stacey appeared in a blink-and-you'll-miss it moment in the first full "Spider-Man: Homecoming" trailer. Eagle-eyed fans caught sight of a young woman who resembles the Marvel character.

Stacey appeared as one of the new students Liz Allen gave a tour around the campus. She had blonde hair and wore a slim headband, just like how Gwen Stacey appears in the comics, and how Emma Stone's version of Peter's love interest looks like.

Fans may have missed the young woman since the focus was on Liz Allen. In the said scene from the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" trailer, Ned and Peter Parker also only have eyes for Liz as they stared at her from across the room.

According to Comicbook, Gwen Stacey's appearance could just be a cameo, since she is not part of the movie. Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) love interest in the film is obviously Liz Allen. The young woman dressed like Gwen Stacey reportedly also does not have speaking lines in the movie.

However, Gwen Stacey's appearance could be an Easter Egg to her future appearance in the franchise. After all, Gwen is part of the Spider-Man canon. She is known as one of Peter Parker's love interest aside from Mary Jane. Perhaps she will factor more in the confirmed sequel.

According to Collider, Sony Pictures has given the green light for the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel. The film has been given the release date of July 5, 2019. Perhaps this time Gwen Stacey appears as Peter Parker's main love interest.
