Now that Apple Inc has already dished out two of its biggest guns in the tech industry — the newest iterations of iPhone and the revamped MacBook Pro, everyone has turned their eyes on the Cupertino-based firm's forthcoming entries from its flagship tablet offering. And as 2016 is about to eclipse to 2017, more and more features about iPad Pro 2 are starting to surface.
One of the most transcendental features iPad Pro 2 is going to introduce is now without a home button, ironically. A report by Japanese site Macotakara has revealed that Apple is planning to launch an almost bezel-free new variant that will just fit right into the same footprint as the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. The same site has also shared that the new model will still be housing a bezel at the top in which the FaceTime camera will be placed. Meanwhile, the rest of the device will be bezel-less, leading to the removal of its traditional home button.
Further, Apple is slated to release different variants of iPad Pro 2 based on its size — a refreshed 12.9-inch model along with the new 7.9-inch model and the cheaper 9.7-inch offering. But perhaps the most that is getting the attention is the heavily-speculated 10.9-inch variant, the one that will reportedly bridge the gap between the larger 12.9-inch and the standardized 9.7-inch.
On the other hand, iPad Pro 2 will be featuring the same True Tone Display, akin to the current iPad Pro 9.7-inch which will also be sporting the P3 wide color gamut. Despite this, the display's resolution isn't known yet and whether it will be beefed up is still up in the air.
The next flagship tablet will also house the firm's yet-to-be-introduced chipset, A10X. Moreover, an increase in its random access memory (RAM) is to be expected while its battery size is still to be confirmed. iPad Pro 2 should come with 32GB as its starting tier in terms of native storage, ditching the 16GB model variant.
iPad Pro 2 will also be equipped with the same 12-megapixel iSight camera which entails that it will come with the capability of recording 4K video. As such, the camera will also be armed with True Tone flash and the ability to capture Live Photos. A 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with Retina flash is also included among its rumored specifications.
iPad Pro 2 may get released in March 2017. It has also been rumored that the new iPad could be launched alongside the newest iPhone in September 2017.
