Capcom is confident that upcoming "Resident Evil 7" will sweep away the current generation console in its launch. Marketing director Antoine Molant said that they are confident of pre-order figure for "Resident Evil 7" to catapult the release figure to 4 million copies. Again, 4 million copies at day 1.
Molant confides that "Resident Evil 7" carries the whole Capcom company and it is the biggest name to invade PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. As such, a global release that will translate into 4 million copies is viable, Molant added. Then he said that they did not took any "Resident Evil 7" estimates with a grain of salt, but based on prevailing trend and strong reception.
MCV UK tried to pry around Molant for rough figure about what he taunts as "Resident Evil 7" pre-order. The executive turned bullish and grinned, then bursts that "Resident Evil 7" is doing very nicely towards excellent opening day. He also capped that pre-orders are escalating new heights amidst late announcement.
To recall, "Resident Evil 7" announcement was made in Steelbook and was warmly accepted. There was a Collector's Edition launch as well where few extra merchandise sold like pancakes. These include a box version of Baker Mansion, a USB thumb drive fashioned into severed finger and other spooky goodies, as we described here at GameNGuide.
Come to think of it, even the recently concluded "Resident Evil 7" demo did well and gamers are happy that it appeared polished. Meaning, there are only few notable glitches or bugs that they encountered. With collected data from this demo and the upcoming one, "Resident Evil 7" is confident that it will be flawless once released.
Another reason to root for "Resident Evil 7" is a teased PlayStation VR version. Although Capcom said that it is just a support, many of those who peeked through virtual reality option said that the game itself was made VR-specific.
