‘Battlefield 1’ Latest News & Update: Giant’s Shadow Map, Crossbow Grenade Launcher Arrives On Dec 13

Video game "Battlefield 1" will be releasing a new map in a few days, just ahead of Christmas. Players will be thrilled to know that the new map of "Battlefield 1" called Giant's Shadow will be available for free and comes with a new weapon, the Crossbow Grenade Launcher.

Giant's Shadow will come out on December 13 initially for "Battlefield 1" premium pass holders and those who pre-ordered it, as PC Gamer reported. It will then be available to all "Battlefield 1" players a week after.

According to Game Rant, the "giant" in Giant's Shadow refers to a crashed zeppelin that looms over a vast battlefield. The Crossbow Grenade Launcher, meanwhile, allows players to fire grenades silently and from a distance.

Giant's Shadow is set along France's Selle River during the Hundred Days Offensive near the end of World War I, as PC Gamer reported. From the trenches, "Battlefield 1" players go to a battlefield equipped with soldiers and tanks.

PC Gamer says the location appears to be on the same map featured on the "Through the Mud and Blood" campaign of "Battlefield 1." Along with a crashed airship, there is a huge armored train.

Giant's Shadow is expected to be only the start of a string of downloadable content for "Battlefield 1" from Electronic Arts (EA), the game's creator. There will likely be more new maps and weapons in the coming months in order to expand the game's multiplayer experience.

While some of the content will be offered for free, others will be available only to premium or paying users. They can be bought either directly or by having a season pass when the game was launched. Available on the Origin PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, "Battlefield 1" involves first-person shooting. It is the 15th part of the "Battlefield" series.
