Fans who have followed historical fantasy television series "Reign" since season 1 will have to say goodbye to the show soon as it's coming to an end. The series will end after season 4, which is slated to air sometime in February 2017.
According to reports, "Reign" will close for good because of its low performance when it comes to ratings. The series, which stars Adelaide Kane and Megan Follows, is reportedly one of the lowest-rated shows on broadcast TV last season. The show's cancellation is also what CW will typically do to low-rating series like "Nikita" and "Beauty and the Best" which both concluded with 4 seasons.
Moreover, "Reign" garnered only an average of 0.3 rating in adults 18-49 (live + same-day) and 984,000 viewers. The cancellation did not come as a surprise though as fans have been aware of the decline of the ratings of the show in season 3. People were more surprised that the series got renewed for season 4.
Fans of "Reign" don't have to fret though as the show will still roll one more season, which means that it will most likely get a great ending compared to leaving things hanging. Reports say that the series is still in production and there will be a total of 16 episodes for season 4. The ending of the show has already been in talks for a while now so deciding on making the last season isn't really unexpected.
As to what fans can expect in "Reign" season 4, spoilers revealed that Mary Stuart (Kane) will return to Scotland to escape from her enemies in France. But more challenges are on her way as she will face the biggest threat in her life-Queen Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten). The conflict between the two is expected to grow even more intense in the fourth installment and they will be working to destroy each other.
