The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is among the most anticipated devices of 2016, which unfortunately did not make it. Thankfully, though, the predicted specs of the upcoming hybrid laptop are on the highest-end, making the wait a lot worth it.
Release Date and Price
The upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is anticipated to be released on February 2017. This would then refresh the Surface Pro lineup, whose last installment was released last year. The February lineup could then coincide with the annual Mobile World Congress, where Microsoft is also rumored to release the new Surface Phone. The device is also predicted to cost $899 for the base model.
Display
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is rumored to boast a wider screen display in either 2K or 4K resolution. There are also rumors suggesting that Microsoft might adapt an AMOLED screen panel as well.
Processor, RAM, and Storage
Being the one of the most premium devices that Microsoft has to offer, it is not surprising that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will pack internals that are processing beasts. The new Intel Kaby Lake chipsets will mostly provide the needed power for the device, with an expected 25 percent performance boost coupled with battery efficiency.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is also expected to have at least 16GB of RAM. Partnered with 512GB of onboard storage, the upcoming device is shaping up to be the ultimate productivity workstation.
OS
As usual, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be running the newest OS version from Microsoft, the Windows 10 Redstone 2. This version is expected to be launched early in 2017.
Battery
As great as it was, one of the main flaws of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was its fast-draining battery life. This is said to be greatly improved on in the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, which would offer a larger battery pack and partnered with an energy-efficient processor.
Other Features
The new Surface Pen coming with the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will pack an impressive new technology. It could wirelessly charge through its magnetic dock, making charging a lot easier.
There are also rumors suggesting that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be coming with a new innovative fingerprint technology through the PixelSense display. There would also be a USB Type-C port, where reports say the Surface Pro 5 would support Thunderbolt 3.
