Gigabyte has introduced an upgraded version of its Aero 14 gaming notebook which, at 0.78 inches thick, is one of the thinnest gaming PCs around. The Aero 14 now packs NVIDIA's GeForce 1060 GPU with a 6GB of GDDR5 memory. The system is quite similar to the model announced in June, but the latest version offers better performance in games and GPU-accelerated workflows.
Gigabyte Aero 14 Specs & Features
The Aero 14 offers a 14-inch QHD display and maxes out at a 1TB SSD for storage and 32GB of RAM, and is equipped with a 94.24 WHr lithium-ion polymer battery, reports The Verge. Like the initial model, it is based on the Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor (four cores with Hyper-Threading technology, 2.6/3.5 GHz 6 MB LLC cache, 45 W TDP, dual-channel memory controller, integrated Intel Gen9 graphics core) and the HM170 PCH.
Generally, the internals of the upgraded Gigabyte Aero 14 remain the same as the initial model. The company decided to throw in a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 instead of waiting for Intel's Kaby Lake-H CPUs. Since the latest Pascal-based GPU offers aggressive performance than its forerunners at the same TPD, it will enhance user experience in gameplay.
I/O capabilities of the new Aero 14 include a USB 3.1 Type C header, 802.1 11Aac Wi-Fi and BT 4.1 wireless module, three USB 3.0 ports, an HD webcam, SD card reader and a TRRS audio connector. A microphone, built-in 1.5 speakers, mDP display output and an HDMI 2.0 are also added. A feature gamers should enjoy is the keyboard that has five programmable keys to simplify complex key combos.
Gigabyte Aero 14 Release Date
Tom's Hardware reports that the new Aero 14 will be available in the US early this month and is priced at $1,699. Like the earlier version, the gaming laptop comes in chassis made of plastic and aluminum, and is available in green, black and orange finishes.
