With nearly a month left before Microsoft and Sony's next-gen consoles launch, the race is on to see which console will be crowned king of pre-orders; the PlayStation 4, or the Xbox One. After
According to information by from VGChartz, it seems that the formerly lagging behind Xbox One has now stepped things up a bit in its pre-order sales.
The site reports that as of October 19, 2013, "The Xbox One has managed to gain ground on the PlayStation 4 as it gained 175,000 pre-orders during the same time frame. The Xbox One currently sits at 525,000 pre-orders." However, the PlayStation 4 still has a considerable lead over Microsoft's new toy. After gaining 125,000 new pre-orders, the total in the U.S now sits at approximately 725,000, outranking the Xbox One by 200,000 orders.
This comes after an anonymous, yet confirmed Xbox One developer on Reddit said that Microsoft has just as many pre-orders for the Xbox One, if not more, than Sony's PlayStation 4.
"When I saw reports of Sony having a million or 1.5 million pre-orders for the PS4, I didn't even think twice about it. We're not disclosing pre-order numbers at the moment for accounting reasons but I know for a fact we have just as many," the developer wrote. "Don't be bogged by published statistics. At the end of all this, what matters is the games you want to play. Which games will people go back to over and over. Go with that. Look at the list of exclusive launch titles for each console."
Pre-order sales for games have also fluctuated. It seems that Call of Duty: Ghosts is now the dominant game and FPS and for both next-gen systems, whereas back in August, it only had the top spot on the Xbox One.
