The Orlando Magic are looking for a reliable scorer and according to a report by Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, the Orlando Magic are looking to land one via a trade. With a 9-12 record, the Orlando Magic are currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. They are ranked number 29 in points per possession this season. With that kind of performance so far, it's no surprise that the Orlando Magic are looking for someone that can put up points on the scoreboard.
Despite the rough start this season, the good news for the Orlando Magic is that they have a lot of trade assets. With Dec. 15 just a few days away, a total of 125 players from the free agent class of 2016 would be eligible to be traded by their respective teams. That includes the Orlando Magic's D.J Augustin, Bismarck Biyombo, Jeff Green, Arinze Onuaku and Damjan Rudez.
There are also rumors that the Orlando Magic might also trade Nikola Vucevic. The rumors started when head coach Frank Vogel just recently moved Bismarck Biyombo to the starting line-up and placed Nikola Vucevic to the bench. Aside from Vucevic, other Orlando Magic players that could be traded are Serge Ibaka and Elfrid Payton.
One name that has cropped up in trade rumors recently that could be headed to the Orlando Magic is the Indiana Pacers point guard Monta Ellis. If the Indiana Pacers are willing to unload Monta Ellis' contract to free up cap space, they may find a willing partner in the Orlando Magic because of head coach Frank Vogel's history with Monta Ellis. Frank Vogel was the former head coach of Monta Ellis at the Indiana Pacers.
Another reason is that the Orlando Magic needed a scorer and Monta Ellis is a proven scorer. Monta Ellis, 31, has career averages of 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.
With the Orlando Magic facing another season without making the playoffs, there are reports that Orlando Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan might be fired at the end of this season. Because of that, the Orlando Magic would most probably make a move before the February 23 trade deadline.
