Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX only recently released, and it looks like Square Enix already has a follow-up in store. It's not information on Kingdom Hearts 3, but it is a new game...kind of.
Development has officially begun on Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, set to release stateside sometime next year. The game was officially announced at the D23 Expo Japan, and a trailer arrived via the US PS Blog.
"Thanks to all of your support, Kingdom Hearts has sold more than 20 million units worldwide! In celebration of this, and with absolute pleasure, we're proud to announce that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will launch globally in 2014!" wrote Square Enix's Associate Product Manager Mat Kishimoto.
While the first remix was a collection of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, the follow-up ReMIX is a collection of the Japanese exclusive Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, which debuted on Sony's PSP. Theatrical cut-scenes from Kingdom Hearts Re: coded, the DS remake of the originally mobile-only title will also be included in the compilation.
"I'm so excited to be able to see all of these games included as a part of this compilation, but personally, the most exciting title may be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. As many may not have been able to experience its awesomeness, it's truly one of the more phenomenal games, and now completely rebuilt in HD - you'll be able to play it on your big-screen TV for the first time," wrote Kishimoto.
"Picking up after KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX, players will be able to continue on their adventures with Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy, and also explore the origins of the KINGDOM HEARTS series with characters Terra, Aqua and Ventus - all with gorgeous high-definition visuals and enhanced gameplay mechanics.KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.5 ReMIX will provide fans with the chance to replay the games of the celebrated franchise, and also lead into the highly anticipatedKINGDOM HEARTS III, which is set to be released on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One®, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft," read a press release.
