"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" may see Yondu betray his fellow Ravagers. The trailer for the sequel show him with Rocket Raccoon and Sean Gunn has since teased that Yondu has gone soft on Star Lord.
Yondu's alliance becomes an interest for the Ravagers in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." Sean Gunn, who plays Kraglin, teased that the other Ravagers would have to determine if they should keep Yondu on their team or not.
Gunn teased that Yondu might become an enemy to his team if he turns soft on Star-Lord. Based on the actor's comments, it seems the head of the Ravagers might have to face a mutiny in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."
"So, the Ravagers have to make a decision of what they're gonna do about Yondu and I think Kraglin is a key part of that," Gunn said as quoted by Screenrant.
The Ravagers' concern about Yondu's alliance stems from the events in the first movie. Yondu did not act negatively, when he realized that his adopted son had tricked him about the Infinity Stone. Peter Quill aka Star-Lord gave him a miniature toy instead of the actual gem.
Yondu was not mad at Star-Lord. Instead, he just laughed when he realized that he has been tricked. Likewise, the first film already hinted that Yondu cares about Star-Lord. Perhaps this care manifests itself more clearly in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." After all, the sequel is more rooted in the concept of family.
Sean Gunn revealed that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will deal with the struggles of building and maintaining a family. Perhaps Yondu still wants to mentor Star-Lord and wants to keep him as his adopted son. Doing so might pit him against his fellow Ravagers.
Likewise, the trailer for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" shows Yondu walking with Rocket Raccoon. The Ravager has either switched side with the good guys or Rocket may have turned his back on his fellow Guardians.
