Remember how Avenged Sevenfold had their song "Carry On" as part of Call of Duty: Black Ops II's soundtrack and zombie mode? Well, the trend is continuing, but with Detroit's infamous white rapper standing in for the Huntington Beach band this time around in the next CoD title, Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Eminem's "Survival" was featured in a video showing off Ghosts' multiplayer mode back in August, and now that the song has its own video out, the folks at Shady and Aftermath figured a few pieces of gameplay scattered in the video here and there couldn't hurt. I suppose the lyrics could get your average gamer juiced enough to knock out a few headshots in multiplayer.
Maybe it means we'll get another funny post-credits music video with Marshall slapping someone around. Anyway, the video "contains content from VEVO" and is "restricted from playback on certain sites," which prevents me from having an embedded version play. You can check out the video here.
This isn't the first time Eminem has been linked with the Call of Duty franchise. It's actually the third, which I suppose makes "Survival" a charm. "'Till I Collapse" was featured in a trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and "Won't Back Down" was in another trailer for the first Black Ops.
People who know considerably more about Mr. Mathers' work than yours truly have said called "Survival," "voluminous, venom-filled and explosive" with "cuss-filled lines...the bombast of distorted electric guitar and a jumbo beat."
Call of Duty: Ghosts takes place in a near future following an attack from space (not aliens) that leaves Los Angeles virtually wiped out, and the US infrastructure devastated, Years later, the country is invaded by a new superpower calling itself the "Federation." What's left of America's special forces have come together to form the titular "Ghosts," and it's up to them to wage guerilla warfare against the Federation in order to protect what remains of the United States, and drive them out.
The game hits PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U on November 5. It will also be a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on their respective launch dates later that month.
