Taylor Swift News & Update: Forbes Names ‘Shake It Off Singer’ Highest-Paid Musician In 2016; Beyoncé Down To Top 17

The year is coming to an end and Forbes' 2016 list of the highest-paid musicians in the world is now out to reveal to everyone who is going to enter 2017 with lots of cash in their pockets. Bagging the top spot this year is none other than "Shake It Off" singer Taylor Swift.

According to Forbes, the 26-year old contemporary recording artist pulled in $170 million in a 12-month period. And even though she did not release a new album since 2014, Taylor Swift still won the number one spot and even beat other stars including Beyoncé who only gained $54 million, leaving her at top 17. The "Halo" singer is followed by her husband Jay-Z who incomed $53.5 million.

Reports detailed that Taylor Swift knocked down Beyonce's earning to top 17 because only a third of the latter's star Formation World Tour was tallied by the magazine while Swift's earnings were from June 1, 2015 to June 1, 2016 which is the time frame of the singer's 1989 World Tour. Aside from Swift's income from her music career, she also profited a lot from her brand and company endorsements like Keds, Coca-Cola and Apple.

But Beyonce is likely to soar high for next year's tally considering her "Lemonade" album was a big hit. With her upcoming tours and album sales, she has a chance to top the 2017 list. However, reports said that it may not be that easy to surpass Taylor Swift especially since she just signed a megabrand sponsorship with AT&T.

It's even said that not even the four members of One Direction will beat Taylor Swift. The boyband is at the number 2 spot with a total earnings of $110 million from their On The Road Again Tour. Reigning at top 3 is "Someone Like You" singer Adele with $80.5 million. Last year, Katy Perry won the top spot but she is now down to top 25.
