GoPro Latest News & Update: Karma's Stabilizer Grip Sells By Itself; Specs, Price & Availability

The Karma Grip vanished from the scene last month together with the Karma drone when the flying device was recalled due to a flaw that caused some units to suddenly fall out of the sky. However, the Grip now returns and is retailing independently of the company's troubled drone. It's no consolation for drone customers; but it's good news for action camera aficionados.

GoPro Is Giving Users A New Way To Capture Footage

GoPro has started selling its Karma Grip for silky smooth video shots that are well-matched with the new Her05 camera and the Hero4 action cameraprev. The Grip offers shake-free action footage for skiers, hikers, and bikers, as well as anyone else who cares to use it. An impressive addition to a GoPro user's arsenal, and a more tough selection than some of the prevailing versions of the same idea.

With the exception of the Hero5 camera, which combines electronic image stabilization, this hand-held and body mountable action cam doesn't deal any kind of built-in solution for obtaining smooth footage. Many current GoPro users keen for Steadicam-like shots will probably have already bought a third-party gimbal device, with the Karma Grip now all set to compete with these, writes Digital Trends.

GoPro Karma Grip: Availability, Compatibility & Price

The accessory is now available in the US and is "coming soon" to the UK, according to Engadget. The company is selling the Karma stabilizer grip on its own for $299.

The grip will be directly compatible with the Hero 5 Black out of the box, but Hero 4 Black and Silver users will have to spare an extra $29 for a harness that fits those cameras. Hero 5 Session users will have to wait until the second quarter of 2017 for a harness for that camera. Karma Grip helps capture stabilized footage so smooth ordinary shots will look extraordinary.
