South Park: The Stick of Truth arriving on consoles Dec. 13, PC version could be delayed

Finally the “Truth” we have all been waiting for. According to reports, Ubisoft, South Park Digital Studios and Obsidian Entertainment announced that South Park: The Stick of Truth will be available in North America starting Dec. 10 and Dec. 12 for Europe for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Alongside the new announcement, it was also revealed that fans who pre-order South Park: The Stick of Truth will receive the Ultimate Fellowship Pack, which lets players choose their classes and pick their perks with four exclusive costumes that come equipped with special abilities.

“Suit up as the Necromancer Sorcerer to increase your fire damage, earn extra gold by equipping the Rogue Assassin outfit, deal extra weapon damage with the Ranger Elf costume, or raise your defense with the Holy Defender outfit,” the official description for the same reads.

However, it's not all good news. There’s a bit of a downer for those looking to play the game on PC as the release date for the version hasn’t yet been announced – which is unfortunately quite typical of Ubisoft. Going by the company’s history involving new releases (like delays for Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Far Cry 3 in the past), it would seem like the PC version of the game will be delayed as compared to its console counterparts. However, we expect it to arrive a couple of weeks after the game’s release on consoles.

While a real release date is still pending, the PC version of the game has been available for pre-order over digital distribution platform Steam for quite some time now, although it currently says that the game will be available this year.

Written and voiced by series-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and described as the “definitive South Park experience,” the game will see the players take up the role of the "New Kid", who now has to make new friends among the local kids of South Park, and team up with them to save the world.

Featuring a LOTR-ish feel for the game, “Arm yourself with weapons of legend to defeat underpants gnomes, hippies and other forces of evil. Discover the lost Stick of Truth and earn your place at the side of Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny as their new friend.”

“Succeed, and you shall be South Park’s savior, cementing your social status in South Park Elementary. Fail, and you will forever be known… as a loser,” the description adds.
