"Orange is the New Black" Season 5 has already been confirmed by Netflix and has already started filming. Not only that, but the show has been reported to be renewed for at least three more seasons. If these aren't enough reasons to celebrate, then fans just have to wait for more drama and excitement in Season 5.
Season 5 to Season 7 Confirmed!
With the hype over the show's upcoming sequel, "Orange is the New Black" Season 5 is reported to be the series' most exciting season to air. To continue the drama though, fans will also get to see their favorite prison inmates until Season 7.
While "Orange is the New Black" Season 5 is already safe from being axed, other controversies still plague the show. The cast, the characters, and the home network are reportedly packing some punches for the hit Netflix series.
Network Drama
It has been rumored that Netflix is now ready to give up "Orange is the New Black" and will be passing it over to other networks. This would then mean that Netflix is possibly selling the show to other networks in the big league, such as The CW and HBO.
The two aforementioned TV networks are reportedly interested in taking "Orange is the New Black" under their wing. However, there has been no official word from Netflix themselves, so we still have to wait and see what actually happens.
Character Drama
"Orange is the New Black" Season 5 will also see many of the characters experiencing a lot more drama and emotions than usual. Taystee, played by Danielle Brooks, will be having difficulties coping with the death of her best friend, Poussey, portrayed by Samira Wiley.
It has been rumored that Taystee will actually be exacting revenge for the death of best friend. In "Orange is the New Black" Season 4, Poussey's death had been covered up by the hierarchy of both correctional officers and other powerful people in Litchfield.
Cast Drama
On the flip side of the coin, actresses Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon, who respectively play Piper and Alex in "Orange is the New Black," are said to be currently not in good terms with Netflix. It has been reported that the two actresses are getting tired of how Netflix is handling "Orange is the New Black" Season 5. Schilling, Prepon, and Netflix are yet to release their statements regarding the issue.
