Sometimes *it* hits the proverbial fan, and you have no choice but to shield your eyes, toss your shirt in the laundry, and just overall roll with it. As we saw with the recent map leak, when you have something as anticipated as Grand Theft Auto 5 just around the corner, leaks are an unfortunate inevitability. Even if all information on GTA V was kept in an impenetrable vault in a CIA bunker, there's a good chance Edward Snowded would've managed his way in there and shared the spoils. Rockstar knows this, and the company is warning fans to be on their guard against more leaks.
Commenting on the most recent bit of news on the Rockstar Newswire, a staffer wrote: "Hi all, now that we're within a week of game release, there's bound to be some inevitable game info and asset leaks. As always per Rule #1 above the Comment Box, we have a strict policy against posting or discussing such things here on our own site. Anyone posting about leaked assets or info will have their comment removed and repeat offenders will have their commenting privileges revoked. We want to ensure everyone who comes here between now and game release can feel free to chat about the game without having anything spoiled for them. Thank you all for understanding."
Suffice it to say, leaks are going to happen, and Rockstar's site isn't the place to either reveal or discuss them. This site or others, however...
I'll be frank. If we hear about leaks, we're going to let you know about them. Whether or not you decide to read about them here, there, or anywhere else that writes Dr. Seuss style phrases, that choice is up to you. But we WILL be offering the option.
So until Grand Theft Auto 5 launches next week, September 17, if you're on a crusade against spoilers, I'd advise you to block NeoGAF, delete your Facebook, turn off your television and radio, don't leave your house, sit in a dark corner, and twiddle your thumbs. For some of you, that should be pretty easy. For the rest, just remember, there's less than a week left...
