According to the actor, they always try to stick closely to the book version of the story. However, they still want to surprise the fans who have read the book in the past. He also stated that the first few episodes are quite different from the book, since they will be showcasing scenes from the Battle of Culloden.
Heughan stated that the Highlanders might be wiped out, because they will be doomed. He even said that the script continues to shock him, because sometimes he still does not know what they are going to shoot.
The report further added that Jamie will be playing many characters in the story. Heughan said that his character would not want to be Jamie Fraser forever, especially after losing Claire. He does not want to live without her at all.
