Mr. Robot & The Tools Of Modern Propaganda, Breaking Down The Intriguing Series

“Mr. Robot” follows the story of a hacker, trying to find his place in a world. Going back to the “Fuck Society” speech which he gave in the earlier episodes of the series. Even though short, it had one single strong hit, which made an impression on the viewers.

As a society, everyone is falling apart through living in the socium created for oneself. Shooting straight at everyone with an anti-conformist message, a short reveal that people live like sheep, and will never be any different. There is safety in numbers but no freedom. It is a topic, which everyone from the era of the old Greek philosophers to nowadays thinkers has been sharing with the people.

Where is the problem in this situation? It is that through the "Mr. Robot" episodes, the ideas implemented in them have shifted from “Social” to personal. The “Fuck Society” speech was an attempt to reach the effect of the given example of Season 1, but the problem is that the target has shifted.

Shifting the topic from “Problems of Society” to “Cult of the Individual” artificially breaks the mind. Just like a horse with blinders on the sides, the viewers are pointed into a single direction, his own.

This not only breaks the established flow of the "Mr. Robot" series, but is completely anti-productive towards the ideas implemented into the first season. When the viewer has been enthralled, the process of propaganda starts. You can see it in Business Insider’s new article concerning the show, where Trump is appointed as the prime evil which inspired the crooked, corrupt world of money.

You can see it in Vanity Fair’s overblow of a practically every day normal internet conversation into a giant assassination scandal, in which the supporters of Trump are appointed as mindless violent criminals.

Do not get it wrong, it is not important who slanders who through media and other communication channels, but the use of the aforementioned technique that makes it disgusting. The blinding shift from “Problems of Society” to “Problems of the Individual” has put the show into a position of authority, from which all messages are conveyed and accepted. Third party media uses established connection between viewers and the show to impose the will of its benefactors on the minds of the viewers.

“Problems of Society” is a complex, difficult to understand topic which can never give an answer to a given problem without hurting anyone’s interest, but the “Problems of the Individual” is more simplified.

You can differentiate two polar opposites and cater the needs of the audience through the message of benefactors. This is the problem of limited perspective. The “I” is the method of nowadays propaganda and “Mr. Robot” is just one among a multitude of mediums which use this method to their own advantage.
