Fallout 4's could-be features revealed: Locations, next-gen port and more

To be perfectly honest, there’s hardly an apocalyptic game fan who doesn’t want Fallout 4 to be a reality, and although we all want the game so desperately, there’s hardly any clue that the game is actually in development, let alone a specific release date.

While we wait for Bethesda to provide us with something serious about the game, it seems like Obisidian Entertainment game designer Chris Avellone, who created the Fallout 3 DLC New Vegas, has some theories to share about the game.

Avellone recently spoke with Inside Gaming where he talked about the kinds of things he wanted to see, and what we could expect from the next Fallout game that’s, supposedly, in the cards.

The designer talked about introducing the series to new locations, such as New Orleans, San Francisco (where a dam stretches around the city), and even the Erie Stretch briefly mentioned in The Pitt from Fallout 3. There are also probabilities for setting the game up for locations outside of the US. Avellone admitted that the series has a crazy fan following back in Russia, and fans out there are curious to know about the prospects of the Fallout universe outside of the US, especially Russia and Poland.

Avellone also talked about the evolution of the franchise, and the kind of role it might play once introduced to the next generation consoles such as Xbox One and PlayStation 4. As far as the PS4 is concerned, Avellone believed that the Share button on the DualShock 4 could have a major role to play in the game, and that is could be used to share video clips of all kinds of weird things people do in the game.

Taking New Vegas as an example, Avellone stated the videos related to the content helped shape the Fallout experience in a number of ways, and that encouraging them with an easier prospect to share similar videos could garner a lot of mileage for the games and beyond.

As of now, Fallout 4 is expected to eventually hit a number of gaming consoles such as Xbox One, Xbox 360, Play Station 3, and PS4, but is yet to be officially confirmed or announced. Check out Avellone’s entire interview below.
