When consumers think of smartphones, they immediately think of the top brands such as Apple and Samsung, rarely considering brands made by Chinese manufacturers. However, China's Elephone S7 could very well remind consumers that owning a good smartphone need not be expensive.
The Elephone 7 is a available in 5.2-inch and a 5.5-inch variations. Both models feature Corning Gorilla Glass displays with full 1080p HD. While this may sound great, that's not all it offers. The Chinese handset is coated with 3D glass that features light-reflecting pattern for both the front and especially at the back.
One more thing that is quite noticeable is the very thin bezels that is barely explored by other handset makers, other than Huawei with their recently released Mi Mix smartphones. The Elephone S7 comes in variations blue, gold, black and green colors. Both models come with 13-megapixel cameras with LED flash on the back, as well as 5-megapixel front cameras.
Under the hood, the Elephone S7 has not made leaps and bounds, but that does not diminish its viability as a smartphone option. The Elephone S7 is driven by a MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor, accompanied with either 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage, 3GB or 32GB of storage or 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage space.
Both of the S7 models come with the capability of microSD card for memory expansion, so storage will not be an issue. The much smaller model will is powered by a 2,450 mAh battery, while the other model is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery, according to Softpedia.
As with other China developed smartphones, dual-SIM support is pretty much standard, with the addition of featuring a fingerprint sensor. Google's Android Marshmallow is the operating system of choice for the Elephone S7, with capability of updating to Android 7.0 Nougat in the foreseeable future.
One can purchase the Elephone S7 for just $139.99 for 2GB RAM/16GB storage, while a $239.99 price tag is attached to their 4GB RAM/64GB storage model.
